Students learn about their watershed using scientific drawing techniques and local animals in their habitats, and mapping their schools and landmarks in that watershed.  On line curriculum can be made available as videos of school and watershed specific tutorials: i.e.  directed drawing tutorials of watershed mapping that would include animals, habitats, landmarks and their school, and/or, tutorials using scientific drawing techniques for creatures and plants in a site-specific watershed habitat.

Watershed Art

I offer schools an 8 week residency in my  Watershed Curriculum.

  1. Art Maps: Students map their watershed area, including plants, animals, landmarks and their school Students learn scientific drawing methods as we use live plants for depicting the range of habitats in their specific watershed.
  2. ART: Now that we know some of the creatures that live in our watershed, students pick one to draw, in it's specific habitat including plants and terrain
  3. Word Art: Poetry is our last element - we read poems, play word games and finally write poems about our creatures and the world of nature

The moon voice
shouts out
brilliant twilight
through acres of black sky

redwoods grow so tall in the
 redwood rain forest
and violets are so small
while the raccoons are looking
for birdie dinner trees say hello
when the storms come the
animals hide in burned out trees
while the trees slurp up clouds

  On this quiet day
The sun is out
 a small bird
 takes a small breath
It is misty
Sprinkling smaller than sprinkles
It is peaceful
Nobody shouting at you
Nobody bothering life
